Q & A

How many years experience do you have?

I have been doing fine art photograhy for 10 years. I began with film photography, then moved to digital for its flexibility and enormous potential.  While my kids are young I limit myself to only 2 events a month.

What do I get with any package?

In all packages you get all your pictures in color in a CD.  The pictures are high resolution images and can be reproduced anywhere. I also place your pictures in a picture album online at Snapfish.com, which I then share with you.  Once you can view the album, it becomes your online album and you can share any or all images with friends and family.  You can also reproduce any pictures through the site.

My event locaiton is in low light, how do you accommodate for  that?

I adjust various setting on my DSLR camera in order to make the camera more sensitive to light.  I also use a tripod 100% in low light situations.  I will use flash sparingly for it tends to wash out faces. Last, I use large aperture lenses (2.8 or larger) to allow more light to enter my camera.

Do you have backup equipment?

I carry a backup camera on me during all events.  I bring more than enough batteries, extra flash, and half a dozen 2-8GB flash cards as well.

Will I be able to increase my pictures into say a 20x24?

All my images are high resolution images and can be increased up to 20x24 without losing clarity.

How do you come dressed to the event?

I wear black slacks, and a black top and black shoes. I also carry a camara backpack the entire time I am at your event.

My event is only 2 hours.  Do you cover events that short?

Absolutely.  See my package page.

What does the fact that you are an artist have to do with event photography?

The fact that I am an artist makes all the difference in your pictures.  I have a creative eye I have developed through time and know and trust that my instincts lead me to create fabulous pictures each time. Ask to view a sample wedding album from beginning to end and you will see that my images are not your ordinary snapshots.

I have he CD for my wedding, doesn't that mean the pictures are mine?

Copyright ownership of all the pictures remain with the photographer unless you pay for rights to own the pictures. Yet, on all my contracts I state that you have the right to reproduce pictures for personal use only. I rarely have customers buy rights to the images, yet it is an option.

I am at walgreens and they will not reproduce the pictures because they can't print them without your permission.

You can do one of two things BEFORE you go to the photo locaitons. 1. bring your contract to prove that you have written permission to copy the images as many and as long as you want. 2. Say you took them.

Why should I purchase the photo album, can't I just print and do that myself?

The album is the number one gift you could give your new family. Here are some other reasons:

1. The album is drop dead gorgeous.  It holds TWELVE 4x6 prints per page (6 on each side) and have slots beside each image for you to write your memories. See a picture of what the album looks like on the package page.

2.  The album is archival quality and will last many lifetimes.

3. The pictures are placed in chronological order.

4. I personally  hand number each picture in the back . The numbers match your online album, for easy ordering.

5. For family members that do not have access to the internet, the album is a great way to share your special day, over and over again.  Plus they can easily go through and choose which ones they want reprinted.

6. Most albums have anywhere between 300-800 pictures, would you like to be the one to take 3-4 hours to number and place all those pictures in the album, or would you simply like to receive it completed through insured mail?

7. You can add all your personal extra pictures to this album.  When you order refills they come with extra screws so you can expand the album indefinately!!!

You took pictures of my wedding 3 years ago, could I order reprints of a bound coffee table book you made for us?

Absolutely.  Just check my site for current rates for my extra services and send me an e-mail with your requests.  I save all my past projects and images saved in CDs and online albums.  I accept payment through check,Pay Pal and cash.

How can I prepare to have the best pictures for my event?

* Get a good night's sleep!

* Know  and expect that little glitches WILL  happen, but that, "This too will pass".  The little glitches are what will make the story of your special day even more special years to come.....so BREATHE and say, "This too will pass".

*Unless I am taking formal images, for best images, you and your fiancee just act like I am not there taking pictures. If you pose during informal pictures it makes the pictures look impersonal and less in-the-moment.

* If there are any specific styles or images you need, make sure you let me know in writing in advance.

* Unless we are doing FORMALS, do not look at me. I want my informals to feel not posed and prefer to be a fly on the wall during these times.

In searching for a photographer I have run across tons of them, what are the top 3 qualities that separate you from any other photographer?

1. Personable and professional, what you see is what you get

2. Creative and artistic

3. Great products at a great $$ value! (Long Island's best kept secret in event photography)

You photographed my sister's wedding, do you offer discounts to families of past clients?

If you are related to a past customer (by blood or by friendship) you are eligible to a 5% discount. You would need to provide me the first and last names of the couple and the date/nature of their event to qualify.....(oh, and a drop of blood.....JUST KIDDING!)

I have lost my CD with my wedding pictures you sent me!! Can you help me.

I keep copies of all my past events.   I can burn you a copy and have it sent to your home. I only charge $15 for this service.

My fiancee and I are having a committment ceremony, are you comfortable photographing an event where 2 people of the same sex are getitng married?

I love and embrace the gay community. I would feel honored covering your event.

I live in the Bronx, would you meet with me?

I have mostly phone conferenced with most of my past customers.  Yet, if you'd like  to interview me, I am available to meet at any Dunkin Donuts/ Starbucks within 30 minutes from my home in Freeport, NY.  I do require you to either fill out an informaiton sharing form or have a short phone meeting before I can agree to meet in person.

Do you use DIGITAL or FILM?

I use only digital.  It is much more versatile and allows me to be incredibly more creative with my images.

My wedding is 6 hours.  How many pictures do I get?

My average is about 60-80 pics an hour.  Of course I take many more than that in order to check lighting, shadows, etc. But the pictures you get are the one that represent quality. Short 2-hour events may get more an hour because the concentration of various parts squeezed into one event.
